Problems in Whoville: Trash Collection

By December 28, 2022General, IHCA

Due to the storm last week, trash collection is a bit of a mess in our neighborhoods. The Issaquah Highlands Community Association (IHCA) asks for your patience during this time. Since Recology was not able to make pickups in the icy conditions, this has caused an excess of trash and recycling for everyone.

IHCA recognizes that trash and recycle containers are being left out in the streets. Recology’s messaging has been very confusing and we understand they told owners to leave them out.

Collection day is this Friday. If you are able, please bring in your cans until Friday morning. This will assist with additional parking spots as well as safe vehicle and pedestrian flow down narrow streets. It will also prevent trash from being knocked over, causing additional littering.

According to IHCA Use Rules and Restrictions (UR&Rs), any containers for trash (grey), recycling (blue) or yard waste (green and/or bags must be stored in a garage or an ARC approved enclosure during non-pickup hours.  Trash cans may only be placed at the curb/street for pickup 12 hours before and 12 hours after pickup time.

Cans must be brought in after collection and stored out of site. Please do not dispose of trash in other commercial bins meant for condominiums or businesses.

If for any reason your trash is missed on Friday, please contact Recology directly.
