Unfortunately, one of the Summit Park slides was vandalized with a sharp object over the weekend. This recent damage will cause injury to a child. Please do not attempt to slide down this slide. Closed equipment signs are not suggestions; it’s closed for your child’s safety.
We installed caution tape over the weekend, which has since been ripped off by someone. This morning we placed caution barrels and have ordered safety fencing to be installed. It may become necessary to close the entire area to secure it.
As many of you remember we replaced the hills ground surface and made slide section replacements a few years ago. Unfortunately, the slide pieces are manufactured outside of the country, the pieces are very expensive and hard to replace. The IHCA will be working with our national playground inspection company to see if the entire slide can be modified for a long term, safer system. This process will take months.
Never leave children unattended while on play equipment. All IHCA parks are closed from dusk to dawn. Please report any suspicious activity such a loitering after hours to the IPD non- emergency 425-827-3200.
We will keep you posted on this projects’ progress as we work with the playground experts.
Be Well.
