Congratulations to Ashland Park resident Jessica Limjoco for being recognized as our September Volunteer of the Month!
Jessica has played an instrumental role in the recent upgrades to Ashland Park and beyond. As a member of the IHCA Playground Improvement Committee, she provides valuable input to ensure all parks in Issaquah Highlands are enjoyable for our youngest residents.
She had the following to say about her time volunteering and living in Issaquah Highlands:
***
When did you move to Issaquah Highlands? And from where?
We moved to Issaquah Highlands in 2021, from downtown Seattle.
What neighborhood do you live in?
We’re happy to call the Cottages our home.
What do you like best about living in Issaquah Highlands?)
I love that there are always people around to meet and have play dates with. It’s easy to make new friends at the parks.
Could you tell us about your family?
My husband is chief technology officer (CTO) of a small company in Seattle. My kids are in kindergarten and second grade this year.
What motivated you to get involved as a volunteer?
I think community building is extremely important, and I love to see familiar faces working hard to keep our neighborhood safe, clean and fun. As a mom of two, I want to keep Issaquah Highlands a beautiful place for my kids to grow up in.
Tell us a little about your volunteer experiences with IHCA?
I volunteer with the Playground Committee, where we collaborate to find the best equipment for each park, with knowledge and input from families around the neighborhood. It has been wonderful to see the process as the parks get updated with all our ideas in mind.
What advice do you have for others interested in volunteering?
There are so many opportunities, with all different levels of time commitment. Just find one you’re comfortable with and go for it.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I am also the coordinator for the Grand Ridge Elementary yearbook this year! I look forward to getting to know more of the community as I collect photos throughout the next several months.
