Is a student in your life graduating from high school, college or trade school this year? Highlands Council is seeking graduation announcements for publication in the summer 2025 issue of Community Connect magazine! To be featured, graduation announcements must be submitted by May 31, 2025. Be sure to select “Graduation” in the announcement form to provide all the relevant information for your graduate. ISD Superintendent Update: Transitions, Celebrations, Opportunities

For Issaquah School District (ISD) staff, students and families, May is a time for end of year assessments, preparing to help students transition to the next grade level, school or for their path beyond high school. In the Community Update Video for May, Superintendent Heather Tow-Yick also encourages us all to check in on one another, and thanks teachers and staff for their dedication throughout the school year. Special Services Invites Families to Parent Information Night

Special Services invites families to Parent Information Night on Tuesday, May 13, from 6-7 p.m. at the ISD Administration Building. This session will provide families with information about transitions for students moving to elementary school, middle school, high school or 18-22 services. Families and guardians of current ISD students receiving special education services – particularly those with students who are risers are encouraged to attend. Please fill out this form to let us know if you are attending.

ISD Board Invites Community to Town Hall

The ISD Board Directors would like to hear from you. As a reminder, you are invited to join a School Board Town Hall in the library at Issaquah Middle School on Monday, May 12, from 5:30-7 p.m. If you are unable to attend the Town Hall, the board can also be reached by email at schoolboard@issaquah.wednet.edu.

Watch the 2nd Annual IHS One-Act Play Festival

This Friday is opening night for the 2nd Annual IHS Student Written One-Act Play Festival! The festival will also run next week from May 13-17. All three plays will be performed each night (doors at 6:30 p.m., starting at 7 p.m.) in the Black Box Theater at Issaquah High School.  Total run time is 2 hours, including intermissions between each show. Weekend shows are always the most popular, so it’s highly suggested to purchasing tickets in advance.

Washington State Board of Education Recognizes 13 ISD Schools

Congratulations to the 13 ISD schools recognized this week by the Washington State Board of Education for their performance during the 2023-24 school year! According to the board, this annual recognition celebrates schools that excel in advancing student outcomes through measurable gains in achievement, growth, and equity. Join us in congratulating Grand Ridge Elementary for achievement in ELA, math and attendance; Pacific Cascade Middle School for demonstrating growth among low-income students; and Issaquah Middle School for closing gaps in English learner progress—among other ISD schools.
