
You’re Invited: ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ Event
Influence the Choice will host “Hidden in Plain Sight,” an exhibit of a typical teen bedroom with hidden signs of alcohol and other substance use. All district parents, guardians and caretakers are invited to Skyline High School on Thursday, March 6, from 6-8 p.m. Topics will cover how to identify signs of possible use, the impacts of alcohol, nicotine, marijuana and other drugs, and how to talk with students about making healthy choices.

‘The Right to Read’ Documentary Screening
The Issaquah School District (ISD) Special Services Literacy Committee is excited to invite you to a screening of “The Right to Read,” a powerful documentary that sheds light on the literacy crisis in America and the urgent need for equitable access to evidence-based reading instruction.
This film follows the stories of passionate educators, advocates and families as they work tirelessly to ensure every child has the opportunity to become a confident and skilled reader. Through the stories of those in the film, “The Right to Read” inspires hope and highlights the critical role we all play in empowering students through literacy.

State of the District: Tow-Yick Shares During Annual Event
Superintendent Heather Tow-Yick spoke with community members and business leaders during the annual State of the City Breakfast, hosted by the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, on Jan. 30. The event also included updates from Mayor Mary Lou Pauly and Police Chief Paula Schwan. Tow-Yick gave an update on the district’s Strategic Plan. View her presentation here.
Dance Team Earns First Place at 2025 Dance Your Heart Out Competition
Issaquah High School’s dance team placed first in the 2025 Dance Your Heart Out Competition at Eastlake High School on Feb. 1. While performing against some of the strongest 4A teams, IHS had the highest overall score across all divisions. Go Eagles!

School Board Chats Episode 1: Governance and Funding
Join School Board President Marnie Maraldo and Board Director Sydne Mullings for the first episode of “School Board Chats,” a new publication that will be distributed via video, website, social media and podcast.
