I believe we are all looking forward to a break in the heat, less smoke–and dare we say–rain! Here is what’s on the agenda for the month of October for the landscaping department.
- Next week, Oct. 12-14: The IHCA will close Village Green Park to the public as crews repair a major irrigation line break, power rake the grass, apply organic fertilizer and reseed. If necessary, the park will remain closed though the weekend. Please respect posted signage regarding park closures.
- As the temperatures decline and stay below 70, and with the return of rain, the irrigation teams will begin shutting down the irrigation system throughout the community.
- Trees are beginning to defoliate, and crews have begun weekly rotating leaf clean up. Please use caution while driving in the community as crews will be on the streets.
- Plant and tree replacements that have been lost either to heat damage, stress, accidents or age will be replaced in certain areas around the community. This will occur all throughout the winter months.
- Streetscape tree trimming will continue during the month of October.
- Seasonal trimming of bushes and other vegetation will continue as well.
- The holiday lighting of Park Drive, Village Green Park and Grand Ridge Plaza will be lit early in celebration of Diwali on Oct. 24. The large tree in Village Green Park will be lit the day before Thanksgiving and turned off by mid-January. The remainder of the street tree lights will remain up through February 2023. This decision was driven by owners’ requests to the IHCA Board to help with the dark winter months. Enjoy!
- The IHCA team is prepared for inclement weather such as high winds, heavy rains, ice and snow.
- Prepare for fall and winter storms by trimming vegetation back off driveways, public sidewalks, alleyways and structures. Most homes have drainage pipes in the backyards or patios. Make sure this area is clear of debris, rocks and furniture at all times. Prepare your home and your cars for bad weather.
