Drawing Herd: Thirteen Ways of Looking for a Starling

Drawing Herd by Coco Allred is a movable installation that functions as a pop-up site for observational drawing workshops. Designed for all ages and skill levels, the workshops use observation as a tool to both cultivate attention and foster connection. The project aims to provide creative experiences in public parks to increase well-being for self, community and place.

This workshop will dive into stage design, dance and choreographic notation. Using the Drawing Herd benches as if they were Lego pieces, attendees will create diverse compositions to explore and document through drawing and collage. Explore how the design of public spaces impacts our movement and develop imaginative and playful ways to navigate these spaces!

This class will meet near the playground at Central Park.

This program is funded by the City of Issaquah through the 2023 Art Season Grant.
