Congratulations to Pine Crest resident Phil Lindsey for being recognized as our March Volunteer of the Month! We appreciate Phil’s commitment to the IHCA Board of Directors and Finance Committee! Thank you for the time, energy and expertise you have devoted to the IHCA over the last couple years.
Phil had the following to say about his time volunteering and living in Issaquah Highlands:
My family and I moved from Atlanta to Issaquah in August 2021. It was my second time living in the metro area (Kirkland 2005/06) and I was amazed by how much Issaquah Highlands had grown. We chose to live here due to Issaquah School District’s strong reputation, the small town feel of Front Street and the surrounding mountains, and to have a short work commute to Bellevue.
We have two middle school children who are actively involved with Issaquah Swim Team and wish we had a pool in Issaquah Highlands! When I’m not volunteering for the Issaquah Highlands Community Association (IHCA), I am a USA Swimming certified official attending meets throughout Puget Sound.
I started volunteering with the IHCA in 2023 when I joined on the Finance Committee. I joined the IHCA Board of Directors shortly thereafter and have enjoyed meeting neighbors across the community and giving some of my free time to help keep this a wonderful place to live.
It’s been great to work with the IHCA and fellow board members. I have learned how thoughtful and thorough the IHCA staff is when it comes to balancing the community’s needs with financial responsibility. The experience reinforces my belief that residents’ HOA dues are being spent properly and that the team does everything possible to only minimally raise annual dues to keep in line with inflation/cost of living.
The board is representative of the diverse community we live in. I’ve enjoyed working with fellow board members and learning about everyone’s perspectives on how we should guide the IHCA.
If you have a passion for your community and want to make an impact, then participating in the IHCA is a great way to do so. Whether you enjoy working on parks and architecture or budget and bylaws, there are numerous ways to help out.
