September Volunteer of the Month: Tom Pucci

By September 18, 2024General, Volunteer

Congratulations to Issaquah Highlands resident Tom Pucci for being selected as September’s Volunteer of the Month! He currently serves on the IHCA Board of Directors and IHCA Architectural Review Committee. Thanks for all you do, Tom!

He had the following to say about his time volunteering and living in Issaquah Highlands:

***

Issaquah Highlands is a very special place for us and for many of our neighbors.  Prior to moving here, we lived in several locations such as Mukilteo, Sammamish and Southern California.

After repeated visits to Issaquah Highlands, we became focused on either building a home there or perhaps buying a pre-existing home.  When our daughter began working at Swedish Hospital in Issaquah, that was a turning point for us to make a decision and move closer to where she worked.

Moving to Issaquah Highlands has been great for us.  We love the peaceful nature of the community and appreciate the convenience factor of being close to I90, retail, restaurants and medical facilities as well as great recreational opportunities.  Let’s not forget the fabulous views of Seattle, Bellevue and Lake Sammamish, too!

Issaquah Highlands offers a sense of community and the ability to get involved in supporting the community via volunteer opportunities.  Not everyone has the time nor inclination to volunteer…but if you do, I encourage you to look into local volunteer opportunities.

The catalyst for me was a desire to get actively involved in the place we live and to understand the growth path and future plans for Issaquah Highlands.  The neighborhoods offer unique settings and housing options as well as diverse challenges.

I currently serve on the IHCA Board of Directors and IHCA Architectural Review Committee (ARC), which both meet monthly. Other volunteer and leadership roles add to my schedule and offer more valuable experience than one might imagine. Outside of Issaquah Highlands, my board experience includes the Association of Washington Business (AWB), Washington Society of CPAs (WSCPA) and a few other commitments over the years.

Sandy (my wife) and I live in Issaquah Highlands with our cat – Gizmo.  Gizmo is a recent addition to our home via adoption after we lost our cat of 13 years to illness.  Pet owners will understand how difficult it is to lose a pet—it’s surely heartbreaking. But Gizmo helped us move on, and in return, he runs around a large house, eats well and scratches everything!

We have one daughter— a graduate of the University of Washington—who is a registered nurse, plus two wonderful granddaughters and a great son-in-law.  We see them all often as they live close by.  We are indeed so fortunate and blessed with a great and healthy family, and a wonderful community.
