To commemorate the final transition of the Issaquah Highlands community from master developer Port Blakely to the Issaquah Highlands Community Association (IHCA), I spoke with Port Blakely CEO René Ancinas about the company’s accomplishments and challenges in the community, and what the transition means for Port Blakely, the IHCA, and Issaquah Highlands residents.
“As of June 30, 2021, we will take off our hats and leave the community with a well-organized and financially sound governance structure,” René Ancinas wrote in July 2021 Connections. “The IHCA, [Highlands Council] and [Highlands Fiber Network] are well prepared to carry forward the community’s legacy and act as stewards of the community in conjunction with the City of Issaquah, King County, and you.
“Looking ahead, we take great pride in the community we’ve built with you, are grateful for the friends we’ve made, and we leave knowing that Issaquah Highlands will flourish as a sustainable, walkable, vital community that contributes toward a healthier world.”
