Landscape: This month, landscape maintenance crews will work on pruning and leaf removal. The Issaquah Highlands Community Association (IHCA) in-house crew will also plant groundcover in some of the street strips throughout the community. This work, along with plant and street tree replacements, will continue into the month of December.

We will also install sod in some of the settled streetscape areas in order to preserve the trees and prevent tripping accidents. There will also be crews working on bark installation in the street tree planters, as well as in many of the community parks and common areas. We will also prune certain varietals of dormant shrub and trees.

If time allows, some of the community’s gravel paths will be refreshed in November, otherwise, that work will move into December. The weather is always tricky this time of year. Our schedule may change, but the work will get done.

Irrigation: Irrigation staff will work to finish winterizing the irrigation system to avoid or minimize freeze damage. This task typically takes about six weeks to complete and we try to finish before the holidays. Once completed, our irrigation staff will work on system upgrades, as weather permits. When the weather does not permit that type of work, staff assist the landscape crews with their many tasks. This year, we will make irrigation improvements in many of our parks so they will last for many years to come.
