Community Resiliency, City of Issaquah

October 19, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join City of Issaquah Sustainability Discussion Series: Community Resiliency

You’re invited to a discussion about community resilience as the City of Issaquah’s Sustainability Discussion Series kicks off at Blakely Hall Wednesday, October 19, 6:30pm. Snacks will be provided.

A community’s resilience is an important measure of its ability to withstand, adapt to and recover from adversity. That adversity may take the form of a natural disaster, climate change impacts, economic downturn or another shock.

A resilient community has the ability to utilize available resource to respond to these shocks and recover. Local and regional governments, nonprofit organizations, community groups and individual residents all have a role to play in creating a more resilient community.

Join us to hear from climate change, emergency preparedness and community organizing experts to learn more about the work of becoming a resilient community — and how you can help our community prepare for emerging issues and bounce back from adverse situations.

The event includes a panel discussion about community resiliency with Lara Whitley-Binder of the University of Washington, Debbie Lacy of Eastside Timebank and more! Learn about what makes a community resilient and what you can do.
